She studied performing arts technology at the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor and graduated with high honors in 2008 (Summa Cum Laude).[ From 2007 to 2011, she was the lead vocalist of the Ann Arbor, Michigan, band called "My Dear Disco" renamed "Ella Riot" in March 2011. In college she was classmates with band founder Tyler Duncan, and she had previously recorded a track with band guitarist Robert “DJ Body-Rock” Lester. Prior to her entry, the band was an instrumental group. Her entry became a turning point in the band's direction. The name change to "Ella Riot" came partly because she was a big fan of Ella Fitzgerald. In September 2011, the band announced the decision to put "Ella Riot" on an indefinite hiatus. Since 2011 she has worked independently. She has released many albums and single records - in conjunction with "Ella Riot", independently, as well as in collaboration with other artists. Many releases are under artistic trade name "The Reverb Junkie". After an unsuccessful audition in 2012, Chamuel returned for the fourth season of reality television show The Voice in 2013. Before auditioning, she worked at Woodstar Cafe in Northampton, Massachusetts. During the Blind Audition stage, she sang a cover of Katy Perry's "I Kissed a Girl." Three of the four judges–Adam Levine, Shakira and Usher–pressed their "I Want You" buttons and turned their chairs. She eventually chose to be part of "Team Usher". On April 23, 2013, Chamuel won the battle round with a cover of David Guetta's "Titanium", and proceeded to the knockout round. On April 30, 2013, Chamuel won the knockout round with a performance of Pink's "Raise Your Glass", and proceeded to the live playoffs. During her live performance on May 6, 2013, Chamuel sang Cyndi Lauper's "True Colors" and was voted into the Top 12 by the public. Over the next four live performances, she was voted into the Top 5.
