I SUGGEST THAT YOU FIRST PRINT THESE INSTRUCTIONS TO PAPER AND READ THEM OVER AND OVER AGAIN, FROM THE BEGINNING TO THE END OF THE INSTALLATION PROCESS, UNTIL YOU HAVE A DECENT KNOWLEDGE OF THE STEPS YOU SHOULD TAKE, SO THAT YOU CAN PLAN AHEAD AND HAVE EVERYTHING YOU NEED BEFORE YOU EVEN TAKE THE VERY FIRST STEP ON THIS LENGTHLY (TWO TO THREE DAYS LONG!) INSTALLATION PROCESS.

It is practically impossible to use an infected Windows computer to download and install a Windows operating system into any computer without the installation being infected. To protect your system, it is your best policy not to use any Windows-based computer at your home or work-place to do this task of downloading this .7z file and burning from it (a) one installation CD with Gparted and (b) one DVD with the Windows installer.

This is my suggestion to you how to proceed in general, but most especially if you have any reason to be a target for spyware because of your "social" life on the web or if your computer is sloooooooow or acts out and/or had any spyware or virus detected by any antivirus (regardless of its successful erraction with that antivirus):

1. Buy one 12 GB to 16 GB USB drive (brand-new, never used before) + 2 DVD RW re-recordable disks (brand-new, never used before) + 1 recordable CD disk + some 20 regular, inexpensive, recordable DVD's disks + 1 Premium Brand recordable DVD disk.

2. Navigate to one reputable source for Linux distributions, such as:
a. for UBUNTU [ http://www.ubuntu.com/ ]
b. for FEDORA [ http://fedoraproject.org/ ]
c. for ZORIN [ http://zorin-os.com ].


All three Linux "flavors" above offer the option of booting and running the operation system from the same DVD used to install the system. For people not used to Linux, Zorin offers the interface closer to that of Windows. Now, dowload and burn the installation ISO image of the Linux you chose to a DVD [or to a spare second USB drive to boot your system from the USB, which requires some extra steps].

3. Disconnect your computer from the power outlet, remove the case cover and physically disconnect the power cable to any and all of your hard-drives.

4. Boot your system from the DVD / USB from step #2.

5. Download the .torrent file to a folder in your USB drive (which you should format from inside Linux itself as "NTFS" as the standard format "FAT" or "FAT32" cannot handle partitions or files larger than 4 GB) and wait for it to finish downloading. After downloading it, unzip the .7z file to a folder on the same USB pendrive.

6. Now, in the uncompressed folders, find the folder for the program "Gparted" and burn the bootable ISO image to a CD [Note: Gparted can also boot from a USB - read below].

7. Find the folder for "Windows Vista Ultimate SP2 (x86) ISO" and burn the bootable ISO image to your Premium Brand DVD at the slowest speed possible [Note: you can use any of USB Drive Windows Install programs supplied in the uncompressed folders to install Windows from a USB drive].

8. If there is no USB socket in the destination computer, burn to a blank DVD the rest of the uncompressed folders (except the two ISO folders).

9. OPTIONAL: if you are running Linux on a USB-drive or installed it to a hard-drive (and most important, that you are used to Linux!), then you can install the Linux version of Checksum (supplied in the zipped file inside "!!! Checksum (86) !!!" along with the Windows version) and run a data verification of the .7z file you downloaded (and also separate data verification of the ISO files for the Gparted Live and for the installer of Windows Vista, after you unzip the .7z file) to be absolutely sure that what you downloaded corresponds exactly with the source I uploaded.

Using the techniques described above you can always be 100% sure that you are starting your new installation 100% clean and uncontaminated from anything that may currenly "live" in your current Windows installation.

00) BURN THE "WINDOWS VISTA ULTIMATE SP2 (x86) ISO" IMAGE TO A DVD: The Windows Vista Ultimate SP2 (x86) ISO image is located on the folder "!!! I suggest that you use the slowest possible speed of the DVD burner you will be using to burn this ISO image to a DVD disc and that you buy the best and most expensive brand of a DVD-R or DVD+R or DVD+/-R (depending on the specs of the DVD drive you will have on the machine you are planning to install the operating system) disc available on your local market (even the most expensive disc will only cost you only about a measly US$ 1) to ensure a perfect burning. After you burn the ISO image, use the burner program to check (verify) that disc, ensuring that the data on the ISO file was copied to the DVD disc without any errors and handle this burned DVD disc with extreme care to prevent fingerprints or scratches on the surface of the disc, where are the burned tracks with the data. After you burned your Windows Vista DVD (or alternately prepared your USB-installation pendrive) you will still need to burn the bootable CD/DVD with Gparted to begin installation.

I) PRE-INSTALLATION PROGRAMS

01) GPARTED Partition Manager (x86): included on the folder "!!! GParted Live (x86) ISO !!!" as an ISO image. Burn the image to a CD and use it to partition your new drive [or if your system does not have a CD/DVD-Drive, you will require another pendrive to boot and run Gparted from. Get the right Gparted files from http://gparted.sourceforge.net/liveusb.php ]. I recommend that you partition your hard drive in at least 2 partitions. From now on, I will be assuming you will gonna use a new 2 TB hard-drive, which will cost you some US$ 50 to US$ 150, depending on which country you live (prices for August 2014). ALL THE PARTITIONS YOU CREATE SHOULD BE FORMATTED AS "NTFS", which you should manually choose in the options located on the right side of the Gparted program window (because, being a Linux program, the default option will be an ext2 format). [note: if, however you are going to use an used hard-drive with any kind of operating system, it would be advisable to erase any partitions on the drive with Gparted and I stress erase any primary or extended partition with Gparted and immediately reboot the system to get rid of any virus and spyware (as all as any other data in the hard-drive!!!). Now after rebooting with Gparted again, create your new partitions. As for any personal files you may have on that hard-drive you can either copy it to another hard-drive or copy it to any service on the web and then download it back when the installation is finished and you are told it is time to attach / connect any data from hard-drives, pendrives, etc].

Now, assuming a blank hard-drive, proceed to:

- turn off the computer you are going to use,

- disconnect it from the power outlet,

- open the case and disconnect any other physical hard-drives you may have on this computer,

- attach your new blank hard-drive,

- DO NOT ATTACH / CONNECT any other hard-drives and removable drives in general such as USB pendrives, etc as well as downloading any files from the Internet, until the step of the installation process where you are especifically oriented to do so. I repeat, DO NOT ATTACH OR LEAVE ATTACHED TO THE COMPUTER ANYTHING OTHER THAN THE BLANK HARD-DRIVE AND THE DVD-DRIVE / USB-DRIVE YOU ARE GOING TO USE TO INSTALL THIS INSTALLATION. ALL OTHER HARD-DISKS OR REMOVABLE MEDIA SHOULD NOT BE ATTACHED until you are explictly oriented to do so. Likewise with downloading any file from the Internet, (even the ones you created yourself, as they also may be already infected) until you are told that it safe to attach / connect any data from any source. Failure to comply with this simple step may expose your system to reinfestation from a virus or spyware already in one of your devices, comprising the whole idea of a clean installation. You will only be told to "expose" your new system to "foreign data" will be only after your system is protected with all antivirus and antispyware running and updated and where you will stand of good chance of blocking any harmful data from getting into your system.

- DO NOT USE YOUR COMPUTER FOR GENERAL TASKS until you finished the last step of the installation process (Windows generates a lot of trash files during its regular operation, even just running on idle, and these files downgrade its speed and performance). (...)
