The updated version includes many bug fixes, Internet Explorer 4 is replaced by a much more fast and easy Internet Explorer 5, there was a feature Internet Connection Sharing. Also added 3 Netmeeting and support for playing DVD.

System RAM requirements for Windows 98 SE increased to 24 MB.

Microsoft had planned to stop supporting Windows 98, July 16, 2004. However, due to the popularity of the operating system support has been extended until 30 July 2006.
