Description  This is the 2009 SHM-CD release of Mike Oldfield's 1973 debut, "Tubular Bells", which contains the 2009 remixes by Mike himself. Now whether you prefer the original or 2009 mixes is up to you, but I definitely prefer the 2009 remix by far. Anyways, "Tubular Bells" was the first official album released by Virgin Records, and it became a huge sensation, though it took a bit of time, eventually becoming a number 1 album in the U.K. in 1974, which incidentally knocked Mike's second album "Hergest Ridge" out of the number 1 spot, making him one of the very few artists to overtake himself on the album charts. It eventually sold over 2.6 million records in the U.K. and reportedly over 15 million records worldwide.
