British actress Dame Helen Mirren was born Helen Mironoff, her father anglicising the family name in the 1950s. Her grandfather was a Russian diplomat, who was stranded with his family in London at the time of the Bolshevik revolution, and eventually became a taxi driver to support his family.

This play draws on the Mironoff family papers and Helen Mirrern's correspondence with his family in Russia, Dame Helen playing the part of her Great Aunt, stranded in Soviet Russia. An interesting slant on the background of an outstanding actress.
