Amazingly, the band's archived performance of August 1970 finally reaches its' fans after 39-years !! The Moody Blues reinvented themselves from their R&B roots to a much more sophisticated sound and between 1967 and 1970 they had just released Question of Balance, their fifth album. , ~ 4 of which hit the Top 5 in the UK with 2 of them going to #1. They enjoyed similar success in the USA where 4 of their albums hit the Top 20 and the other was just outside. Ending August 1970, shortly after the release of their album "A Question of Balance", they took to the stage of the Isle Of Wight Festival before of an audience estimated at over half a million! And you can see how all 5 band members show their delight and excitement, - even a little fear, whilst performing in front of that huge audience. This DVD has complete live trax after a few inital trax interspersed with thoughts shared by band members. It has only 10 songs - while the CD has 14. That's becauase some film footage was lost. Preceding the concert there is a 20-minute documentary including interviews given in 1998 with Justin Hayward, John Lodge, Graeme Edge, and Mike Pinder - sadly Ray Thomas is missing. An interesting bit is of Mike's demonstrating the mellotron and its interior workings. Video & audio portions of still other songs from the performance, such as Minstels Song and Are You Sitting Comfortably, due appear in the documentary portion, but not in their entirety. Then we see an hour of actual concert footage containing something from all the previous 5 albums, though clearly more from the then latest album plus Days Of Future Passed ('Tuesday Afternoon', 'The Sunset' and 'Nights in White Satin') than the three others. A very unnecessary track is at least 'Tortoise and the Hare'. The encore,"Ride My Seesaw", is a compilation of footage from various concerts - part of lost footage. After the concert are present day reflections from the band [once again, no Ray]. Closing this DVD Graeme recites "Late Lament". This is an excellent look at early Moody Blues live. An absolute must for Moodies fans and for anyone who likes rock concerts that don't sound like they were done in the studio. There are no overdubs....this is a great raw performance. -------- Media Info -------- File Name : MoodyBlues.IoW.1970.avi Format/Info : Audio Video Interleave File size : 682 MiB Duration : 1h 18m Overall bit rate : 1,208 Kbps Writing library : VirtualDub build 32559/release ~ Video ~ Format : MPEG-4 Visual Codec ID : XVID Bit rate : 1,066 Kbps Width : 640 pixels Height : 360 pixels Display aspect ratio : 16/9 Frame rate : 29.970 fps ~ Audio ~ Codec ID/Hint : MP3 Bit rate mode : Constant Bit rate : 128 Kbps Channel(s) : 2 channels Sampling rate : 44.1 KHz Resolution : 16 bits Stream size : 72.2 MiB (11%) enJOY! ~ Suryakash ~ Related Torrents
