This is a 720p version of the full game movie of Mortal Kombat X, that is, an edit together of all the cutscenes that makes a coherent and rather engaging story. Mortal Kombat X picks up after the events of Mortal Kombat 9, with Shinnok attacking Earthrealm after Shao Kahn's failed attempt. Most of Earthrealm's kombat defenders---like Liu Kang, Kung Lao, Jax, Sub-Zero---have been killed and enslaved as revenants by Quan Chi of Netherrealm, Shinnok's trusted sorceror. Raiden and the remaining defenders must hold off the attack on the JInsei, the spirit of the Earth...no, wait, that's Gaia. Wrong fictional universe. Anyway, watch it and you'll know. The good thing about this movie plot is that it can easily stand on its own as a decent animated movie, and the characters aren't the cardboard cutouts we are used to before, especially not the new young brigade. Raiden is still constipated though.
