Description

SLI 26K Gallon Modern Tank Cars

In the 1960's, Union Tank Car Company developed the "Funnel Flow" tank car that would become the standard of all modern tank cars on the rails today. The Funnel Flow concept involves a slight inward dip in the tank from either end to facilitate faster unloading of the car. The 26,000 Gallon Modern Tank Cars are based on this design which was also replicated by the majority of tank car manufacturers. The cars are general service tank cars which are designed to carry any number of bulk liquids.
