Description
SLI Amtrak Adirondack Trainset The Adirondack is one of the oldest named trains on the Amtrak system. Beginning in August 1974, the train operated between Grand Central Terminal in New York City and Windsor Station in Montreal Quebec. Today, the train operates between Penn Station in New York City and Central Station in Montreal. The train travels north, along the Hudson River to Schenectady, then over to Canadian Pacific (D&H) tracks from there to Rouses Point Quebec. The last leg of the journey into Montreal is on Canadian National tracks. The total distance covered is approximately 380 miles, and the journey takes about 11 hours. This product represents a modern interpretation of the train, with its consist of Amfleet I coaches and café cars, all sporting the current Amtrak Phase IVb livery. Two locomotives are included, both GE P42DC units, one in the standard Phase V (#158), and one painted in the new Salute Our Veterans scheme. The Veteran scheme first appeared in the summer of 2013. Amtrak is a partner in the United States of America Vietnam War Commemoration, and this scheme was designed to honor American veterans and their families.
