Description
SLI Amtrak's California Zephyr Just as its name suggests, Amtrak's California Zephyr winds its way across the Utah Desert on its journey between Chicago and San Francisco. The California Zephyr began service in the spring of 1983, 13 years after the predecessor CB&Q / D&RGW / WP California Zephyr ceased operations. Today, it is one of the premier long distance trains on the Amtrak system. Stream Lines has attempted to replicate how this train may have looked in 1983-84, during its first year of service. All the equipment, including the EMD F40PH locomotives, is presented in Amtrak Phase II paint, which was introduced in the mid-1970s. Also included is a westbound California Zephyr activity for the DRGW Green River route.
