Description

The Denver and Rio Grande Western purchased the Southern Pacific Railroad in 1988, but kept the SP name due its brand recognition. In 1996, the Union Pacific Railroad acquired the Southern Pacific Railroad effectively making the former D&RGW Green River route a Union Pacific asset. Today, the UP Green River Subdivision acts as a secondary main line for transcontinental traffic, however, it is primarily a coal hauling line for coal trains originating in western Colorado. Aside from the ubiquitous unit coal trains, the line also hosts UP manifest, locals, and BNSF through trains operating on trackage rights. Stream Lines has produced a package which reflects the modern operations of the Union Pacific on the UP Green River Sub (circa 2006-2010).
