Rarity is invited to Manehattan's Fashion Week, and brings along her Ponyville friends to help support her and giving them tickets to the latest Bridleway show. Once there, she meets her fellow competitors, including Suri Polomare (Tabitha St. Germain), an old friend from Ponyville. Suri is fascinated by Rarity's dresses, and Rarity gladly gives her the remaining fabric to use for highlights when she asks. The next day, Rarity discovers that Suri, through the efforts of her aide Coco Pommel, has used the fabric to recreate her whole line, outdoing Rarity's own. In a panic, Rarity returns to her hotel where she gets the inspiration to use fabrics from the hotel to make a new line in time for the competition. Her friends offer to help, even forgoing their sightseeing of Manehattan and the Bridleway show, but Rarity becomes more panicked as time runs out and treats her friends poorly. At the show, Rarity's new line is praised, but when Rarity realizes her friends aren't watching, she races off before she can accept the win. Rarity meets up with her friends and makes up for her behavior by treating them to a special encore of the show. Coco later meets them and explains how Suri cheated and tries to take Rarity's win, but gives Rarity her prize as well as gift; in exchange, Rarity arranges for Coco to design dresses for the next Bridleway show. Back in Ponyville, Rarity finds that Coco's gift is a rainbow-colored spool of thread.
