Native Instruments Abbey Road Modern Drums

Get ready for another installment of Abbey Road instruments -- Native Instruments has released Abbey Road Modern Drums, a new instrument developed together with the iconic British recording studios. Featuring two high-end drum kits for use in Native Instruments' free Kontakt Player and the Kontakt 4 sampler, Abbey Road Modern Drums gives everyone access to expertly engineered drum sounds for contemporary music production in any genre.

Based on two renowned drum kits -- a Drum Workshop Collector’s Series "White Kit" and a Pearl Reference "Sparkle Kit" -- Abbey Road Modern Drums complements the company's previous 60s, 70s, and 80s releases. Abbey Road Modern Drums is further expanded with Sabian and Zildjian cymbals and three snare drum options. According to Native Instruments, both kits were recorded in Abbey Road's Studio Two and Studio Three, taking full advantage of the acoustic properties of these famous recording rooms.

Abbey Road Modern Drums uses both modern and vintage recording equipment, such as selected Brauner and Neumann microphones from the studios' famed microphone collection; and SSL, REDD, and EMI TG preamps. In addition, classic and modern compression techniques were used on the basis of the Fairchild 660 compressor and the Empirical Labs Distressor.

The instrument also offers up to 27 Velocity layers per instrument, MIDI mappings, and over 40,000 overall samples for rhythm programming and real-time MIDI-controlled playing. Its user interface offers control over all articulation, sound shaping, mixing, and routing functions. Likewise, its advanced randomization can even add subtle nuances to the tone and timing to make it virtually indistinguishable from a studio-recorded drum performance, notes Native Instruments.
