Description
NIN Live’s NIN DRIVE v2.0 Torrent ===================== The NIN Drive began in late 2008 during the massive Lights in the Sky tour. The idea was to compile a single database of all available NIN live audio sources onto an external hard drive, each of the lowest generation and with the most information possible. This project exists due to the efforts of multitudes of collectors and tapers; the result is a live NIN audio collection currently totalling over 530 gigabytes which equates to 900 audio sources from 575 different concerts. Before going into this, I just want to say that if you have taped Nine Inch Nails or a related act of Trent Reznor's in the past, please get in contact with me at ryanj@reflectinginthechrome.com if you would like it hosted on the archive. I would love any new sources to add! If you don't have the means to transfer it, I have all the capabilities in transferring any sort of media and would send the tape back to you in a reasonable amount of time! High-Quality Archive ===================== This drive is for archival purposes. Initially, I wanted the drive to be used as a 'trading tool' where tapers/traders had access to it in order to gain new sources that are not in circulation. Well, what I didn't want to happen was think it was some sort of 'elitist group' that could only obtain it. Overall, I did not like that route and I love to share music and being 'elitist' was not what this archive was all about. Any of these recordings you see on this drive are available on the live archive (ninlive.com) for free download as well. I have been working on this drive for about 6 years now. The first drive was very messy.. and my meaning of 'messy' is that nothing was properly tagged. That was one of the reasons why it took so long to create a torrent because I wanted everything to be absolutely perfect. There are many drives out there like this, but I honestly think this is the most comprehensive and detailed archive out there. Each recording is properly tagged and has MD5 and FFP verification files in them. Also enclosed is artwork for each show thanks to Trey Crim (88-14) and Warren Jordan (HTDA Tour). The recordings that are on this drive are in 'high-quality' format. Because this is an archive, the file sets that are on here are for archival purposes and will be in the highest filetype (i.e.- 24Bit/96kHZ, 24Bit/48kHZ etc etc). Whatever the taper recorded in, that is what will be on here (or what the recording was released at). This means that most of the recordings on this drive will not play if burned to a CD without converting to 16/44.1. Now, if this is over your head, don't worry! Most CD burning programs nowadays will automatically convert the files for you when burning. But I just thought I would make that known. Many of the recordings on here are in FLAC format. This is a lossless audio file that will keep the files smaller than if you kept them in WAV format. This is not your typical iTunes library! Playback of these FLAC files are easy. On a Mac, you can play them on VLC Player or Cog. Windows computers these files can be played on Windows Media Player (with proper plugin), Foobar2000 or VLC Player. Video ===================== I absolutely plan on having video recordings be an integral part of the NIN Drive! As the audio portion is now complete, I will now be starting to gather video sources for the drive! If you would like to donate a source/DVD copies for the next phase, please get in contact. Memberships/Obtaining The Drive ===================== By no means do I intend to create an "elitist" network in which the privileged few get to enjoy an archived collection of all circulating NIN sources. I would like everyone to enjoy this drive and remember some of the great moments in history of Nine Inch Nails live. I do encourage people to help find new sources and find upgrades in mp3 sources. There are two ways in which you can receive a drive. All you have to do in order to become a member is to download the torrent that will be available shortly here and you can download the whole drive and keep it updated that way. The other way is to send in a hard drive of about 750 GB and I will send it back. Please just include postage in to return it back to you.You can e-mail me about getting one.But I encourage the first method if you can go that route just so I don't have to copy a huge amount of drives. The Torrent ===================== The drive is at 527GB. So you will need a drive that is about 750 GB. Since the touring cycle is over, and no tours are going on in the foreseeable future you should be ok with 750GB worth of space on an external drive. That is what I recommend for this. Download the torrent and save the directory to the external drive and be patient! This is 527GB and there is a small number of seeders to start off. I don't think it will be fast and could take some time to finally get seeds off the ground. When you finish downloading this torrent, PLEASE DO NOT GRAB AND DASH. IN ORDER TO KEEP THIS TORRENT ALIVE I NEED HELP FROM YOU (THE FANS) TO KEEP IT GOING!! I will seed when I can once it's done. But after that, it's YOUR responsibility to help other fans get this drive. Updates ===================== Updates… It should be fairly simple. All you have to do is download the new torrent whenever it becomes available (I will put a date next to the torrent file to show you when it's updated on the NIN Drive page). The torrent will then go through all the data and see what has been added/deleted and will make the adjustments. I know there will be some bugs with updates, so I will make sure to let everyone know what updates are made in a log on the drive page as well so that you can make updates yourself if need be. But this should make it very easy to update the drive. I don't think there will be many updates until there is a new tour. I will do one every 6 months or so. Unless there is a massive influx in recording, but that would be out of trend. You can also keep up to date on the homepage with the 'archive updates' RSS feed. You can manually add the recordings to your drive to stay up to date. Any addition to the archive will be noted there. Help Wanted: Text Files and Tracking Verification ===================== There are a few things I do need help on for the next update (v2.01)... and I am hoping that there are a few people out there that would be willing to help. Some shows do not have text/information files in them. I was hoping there would be a few people willing to help add them to the drive. Each year could be split up to decrease the workload. I also tracked all 19,000 files and even though once I tracked out the shows and verified by going through a few tracks from the show, I know there will be some tracking errors. So, if you come to find one please let me know about it so I can fix the source for the next update. I am for certain that it's almost perfect. But human error still exists. Major Thanks ===================== I just want to now say a few 'thanks yous' to many people out there who have helped me with the archive. You all have been an invaluable part to making this site run and helping me with a lot of technical questions to coding, audio/video editing, helping with finding new sources, hugs/support and catalyzing the creation of this drive. So thank you to Hahninator, Dassarri, Gladcarrot, Mr. Fang, dailycuntpunch, acc123456, TheBang, ninhotline, Somebody, rabid NIN fans at ETS, BLG, anonymous, Tapeworm, TaperBT, JB, Smores, JJ, Scott Brown who developed xACT (and how I was able to mass tag each show, to speed the process along!) and all the tapers that have gone out and recorded NIN over the past 25 years and shared their recordings with the community. I am very lucky to be able to run this site and have met some great people along the way. Lastly, I would like to thank Trent Reznor and NIN co. for their support on the archive. It means a whole lot and I hope that you will be able to grab the new version of this drive. This site, that started out as just a source guide, and now has become a full blown hobby. If you would like to contribute to the NIN Drive please contact me. Contact information may be found on the About page of this site. Thank you for taking the time to read this page, you will now find the torrent file available to download below. Enjoy. - Ryan Sharing Widget |
