Shiva's Eye Of Diamond 30:25 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Full circle, June 9, 2003 Reviewer: Franz "Franz" (Athens, GA) Nina comes full circle with a combination of her power-diva attire and Vedic chanting, a driving force in her life, which (so far) only sporadically surfaced in her previous work. Delivery from the heart, beautiful voice and instrumentation. Disc one is Nina & party playing a sparkling set in the studio, disc two contains a spirited live concert that feels like a day in the park. The icing on the cake is a short but satisfying film with footage of the concert. Expect to experience Krishna full-on, fantastic release! Absolutely marvelous... no two ways about it., October 22, 2005 Reviewer: Lucretia van Damme (USA) Pick up this album and get ready to fall in love, and I mean that. I've worn this CD out in the few short months I've had it. Now, to start, I'm your garden-variety 80's-alternative-and-gothic teenage female. I live on the Smiths, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Bauhaus, Joy Division, Sisters of Mercy, blah blah blah. I don't follow the "punk" scene at all (so how Nina wound up on my favorites list is beyond me, really) and I certainly don't subscribe to the religious Hindu-mantra-whatever sorts of things. But I know the words to nearly every track on this album by heart. Now, I can't say I know what they mean, and I can't spell all of them, but they're just engrained in my little brain. From the first listen, I was just in love. I can't explain it, really. And not being particularly religious anymore, myself, I can't really relate to the enthusiasm Nina feels for these things. But every once in a while, she gets this... sound about her... she sounds like a kid in front of a Christmas tree, I suppose. Just in awe of this amazing thing around her, and so unspeakably thankful to be a part of it. That emotion is what makes this album so dear to my heart, I think. It stays on my iPod to calm me down in between stressful classes, and provides lovely background music to my time at home. Take advantage of the clips provided here at Amazon to sample everything. If you're considering bringing this record home, I really recommend that you do. It's a unique experience, and unlike anything else in my collection. Great!, January 4, 2004 Reviewer: A music fan I've never been much of a Nina Hagen fan before but this album is an exception. It's great to see an artist take risks with their music and although I am not too crazy about the Big Band Explosion album, I feel this one was a great risk taker! Madonna's song shanti/ashanti doesn't hold a light to this one. Welcome Addition For Nina Collecters, November 11, 2003 Reviewer: David Oliver (Encinitas, CA United States) Traditional Hindu devotionals are an acquired taste, and are definitely not what one would throw on the home stereo to satisfy our desire for a taste of Nina Hagen as we mostly know her. Yet throughout her extensive career one would have to be shortsighted to be unaware of the colorful myriad of spiritualy charged references and musical styles which have formed and changed and mutated since. This collection of Indian Mantras and Bhajans is a well rounded and nicely packaged full view presentation of Ninas personal Spiritual journey thus far,and not only preserves the integrity of this particular musical structure, but sheds all the usual "Nina Hagen Punk Rock Diva" isms to give us yet another view of this Incredible and multi faceted Artist. Though I must say this particular project has seen the least amount of playtime in my daily life,it is a welcome addition to any true fans collection. A Goddess in Disguise, February 26, 2003 Reviewer: Christian Paaske (Stavanger Norway) In the genre of western chanting of Indian sanskrit mantra this is a production that stands out, not only with it's contact with ancient traditions, but also with it's joy, devotion and overflow of energy and vitality. Nina Hagen gives voice to both classical Indian chants, but also contributes with some beat up original westernised versions of old traditional mantras which is just great ! Nina Hagen have good help of other mantra singers and the whole band has a powerful impact. For mantra lovers this recording is a treat. The extra live recording on the second CD is just as juicy, inspiring and raw as the studio recording, both brilliant and excellent. The gods does not always come in sandals and white gowns, sometimes they dress up as punk divas, but here Nina Hagen is maybe showing us who she really is - a goddess in disguise? HEY!!!!!!!!! This aint no RED BUDDHA OR WATERBONE TIBET TANCE FOR SURE!!! But please SEED anyway..... Sharing Widget |
