The history of the movie begins in 1617, time when Njinga’s father, the King Kilwanji die.

Njinga is witness of gradual Portuguese domination and weakness of people power into her territory.

The war for Mbundu freedom begins by Njinga looking the kingdom decay.

After four decades of conflict with the slogan “who stay, fight until win”, the peace is sealed by Portuguese who recognize Njinga the Queen of Matamba and Ndongo lands (in Angola).
