Description
A sequel to 2002's cult-status film "Suicide Club","Noriko's Dinner Table" tells the compelling and
profound tale of the collapse and reconstruction of the family unit. Noriko's story dovetails with that of the earlier films "Suicide Club," a group of teenage girls who cause a media sensation when fifty-four of them jump in front of a train at once. The saga of the suicide club intersects with Noriko's story as well as with the journey of her father, who sets out in search of Noriko and her sister Yuka (who also runs away and joins Kumiko's "company"), but the biggest connection between the two films is an emotional one: both movies deal with alienation and a lack of communication between generations, themes that are dealt with more profoundly and emotionally here than in Suicide Club. Where Suicide Club was more audacious in terms of cinematic style, jumping from police procedural scenes to musical numbers and back again, Noriko's Dinner Table is more concerned with character and addressing its issues as real-world concerns. It's less ironic and more powerful than its predecessor, and although it's less gory, the violence that does exist is far more unsettling. Related Torrents
