Description
"Laughter is the best medicine"- Every person wants to laugh and feel positive and cheerful. Today's way of life is fast and stressful and most of the times there is no time to laugh. Intelligently written comedies can help to alter this state of mind and tensions of a person. Director Rajesh, who has given two consecutive hits, proves once again that he is the king of comedies. Oru Kal Oru Kannadi is a barrel of laughs with a wafer-thin story.
Sravan (Udanidhi Stalin) works in a popular multiplex. Parthasarathy (Santhanam) is his colleague and they are close friends. Sravan falls in love with Meera (Hansika), who is the daughter of a police officer (Sayaji Shinde) and is pursuing her higher studies in an aviation school. It is just a one-sided love affair, as Meera does not show any interest towards him. The efforts made by Sravan to attract her and the kind of response she shows will form the crux of the film. His journey of love is a roller-coaster ride. All these scenes were presented on the screen in a most jovial way with nice comedy and full of entertainment with his best screenplay techniques by the director. Performance: Udayanidhi Stalin has given a perfect performance all through the film. He has maintained perfect comedy timing. However, it is surprising that despite being the producer of the film, he maintained very low profile in the film and allowed the director to highlight the other artists like Hansika, Santhanam and Saranya. Undoubtedly, Santhanam, who is a great comedy artist in Telugu, has given good support to Stalin. Their chemistry works out well on the screen. Hansika has filled the glamour slot and bagged a big screen presence in the film. She has also maintained impeccable comedy timing. Saranya and Alagam Perumal have done justice to their roles. Technical: Balasubrahmanyam's cinematography and editing Vivek Harshan are okay as there is not much scope to highlight. The camera work in song sequences is excellent. Music by Harris Jayaraj is okay as the film is a dubbed version, he can't do more magic in songs. The dialogues in the Telugu version are not that perfect and they failed to evoke as much comedy as in Tamil. It has lot of Tamil scent and the Telugu people may not enjoy the film. The director has made efforts to balance the Tamil and Telugu versions. In Tamil, the jokes come at a fast pace, but in Telugu, it is not that easy to convince the audiences with such fast one-liners. But the movement of the story and the running of the film make the audiences to enjoy it to some extent. Remarks: The film is just a one-time watch. If you have no other film to watch and must spend your week-end with one film, you can watch this. Or else, wait for the DVD to come and watch it at home. The film is good to watch with friends.
