Descriptionhttp://www.ownhammer.com/sto...eakercabinets/V4_212-VXT.jpg The OwnHammer Studio Mix Libraries have a specific goal in mind – to implement mic choice, mic placement, and mic amplification in a way that is most suitable to a specific cabinet and the types of speakers, amps, and tones most commonly associated with it. Once the configuration is set, it is static for all speakers loaded in that specific cabinet. Both traditional and non-traditional speakers to this configuration then provide the variable shades of sound beyond mic choice and mixed blending. With different cabinets comes the possibility for changes to the configuration, and such are the OwnHammer Studio Mix Libraries. THE CABINET The 412-GTR MAR-CB is based on a late 1970’s Marshall 1960B 4x12 guitar cabinet. This specific model of cabinet is often referred to as a “checkerboard” cabinet due to the type of grill cloth used. THE MICS CND 70 Based on a close mic’d Microtech Gefell UMT70S large diaphragm condenser microphone. DYN 57 Based on a close mic’d Shure SM57 dynamic microphone. DYN 421 Based on a close mic’d Sennheiser MD421 dynamic microphone. RBN 121 Based on a close mic’d Royer R121 ribbon microphone. ROOM Based on an ambiently placed Microtech Gefell UMT70S large diaphragm condenser microphone. THE MIXES Please Note – none of the mixes in this library contain the “Room” capture, which can add dimension and bark to low and mid gain tones respectively. Adding this ambient character can pull a guitar track back from the forefront of the sonic array and is why it is left to the user to blend in to taste. LIVE MODERN Custom mix of the DYN 57, DYN 421, and RBN 121 mic options. Primarily intended for, but certainly not limited to, use with FRFR playback systems for live settings. LIVE VINTAGE Custom mix of the CND 70, DYN 57, DYN 421, and RBN 121 mic options. Primarily intended for, but certainly not limited to, use with FRFR playback systems for live settings. MEDIAN Custom mix of the CND 70, DYN 57, DYN 421, and RBN 121 mic options. Intended to bridge the gap in sound between the Live and Studio files’ general voicing. SP Mix by Scott Peterson (http://www.spetersonmusic.com) using the CND 70, DYN 57U3, and RBN 121 mic options. This mix file is based on an OwnHammer MIX Series mix-recipe methodology Scott uses personally for studio and stage with the Fractal Audio Axe-Fx II platform. STUDIO MODERN Custom mix of the DYN 57 and RBN 121 mic options. Primarily intended for, but certainly not limited to, use in full mix recordings.
