using complex systems, any current discussion of a scientific paradigm unavoidably
takes place between, and responds to, two classes of limits on our knowledge. On
the one side is the absence of general mathematical foundations. On the other side
lie practical knowledge constraints on applying complex systems models. These
will be briefly explained before going on to explore some aspects of the emerging
paradigm.
