Philosophy of Goraknath and Gorakshatakam (Size: 18.12 MB)
Description
Well here's something you're unlikely to come across.Maybe later I can put up Colonel Briggs book. The Philosophy... is only a scan -- but the content is really worthwhile. The Shatakam presented here is a very short version formed from the critical edition.
Gorakh-nath was the second in the lineage of Nath yogis. His guru, Matsyendra-nath was incarnated as a fish, and while swimming by the shore, heard Shiva teaching youga to Parvati. Gorakhnath is the patron saint of Nepal (his name's on all the money -- or was many years ago). The Naths are serious, hard-core yogis. You can often recognize them by the nice holes bored through the cartilage of the ear. with big round earrings. Gorakpur is on the road between Varanasi and Sunauli. You can still find Nath yogis around the sacred places. Sharing Widget |
