Paul, ufficiale asburgico, nel corso della prima guerra mondiale è finito in ospedale per una ferita le cui conseguenze sono la zoppia, il morale a pezzi e gravi problemi sessuali. Isolatosi nella propria casa di campagna vi incontra Eva, una maliziosa orfana di dodici anni allevata dagli zii.

Film piuttosto didascalico sull'amicizia "particolare" di un uomo maturo con una ragazzina. Dentro ad una sceneggiatura semplice e fin troppo lineare Clementi riesce a dare credibilità al tormento interiore del suo personaggio, sempre in bilico tra l'amore innocente, quasi paterno e la forte tentazione erotica. Molte le scene di nudo della Berger, all'epoca tredicenne: ecco perché il film è introvabile, nonostante un approccio per nulla morboso ad una tematica diventata l'ultimo invalicabile tabù della nostra società.

This film shows how love can develop during such a time and provides an example of unrestricted affection. The French artist who directed this film did not feel an obligation to be sensitive to the feelings of USA viewers, so don't be swayed by the moralistic outrage these people feel obligated to spew. Watch the movie and decide for yourself. While doing so, ask yourself how WAR and VIOLENCE could have ever gained such universal and unquestioning acceptance in our current society than LOVE and SEX -- regardless the form. Which is more obscene ?
