In een Spaans ziekenhuis wordt de vierde etage bevolkt door jongens van een jaar of vijftien bij wie allemaal een been is afgezet om het sloopproces van kanker te stoppen. Miguel Ángel en zijn maatjes revalideren, ondergaan de dagelijkse routine van tests en peptalk, krijgen aangepast voedsel, leren de eerste stappen zetten met protheses - maar doen er vooral alles aan om van hun situatie het beste te maken.
