Pokémon Stadium 1 returns for those players who like not only the low ceiling but also the stage shifting shenanigans. Most of the elemental stages function the same as in Melee, but the biggest difference is the windmill. In Brawl, the windmill platforms functioned as walls where you couldn't jump though them. In Project M, instead of reverting them back to Melee, we completely removed all interaction with the windmill by moving it into the background.


While the Project M version of Pokémon Stadium 1 looks just like Melee's, the new water mechanics can lead to some distracting graphics. Now, characters jumping and wavedashing on the liquid portions of the water and grass stages will create large splashes. As a stadium, Pokémon Stadium 1 is on the less optimal side of design choices, since the audience is located well below the actual stage.
