Clint Dempsey is a doubt for Fulham's Barclays Premier League clash with title favourites Manchester United.

The in-form American winger has had a bout of food poisoning but will be given until the last minute to declare his availability.

Other than that Fulham are relatively untroubled by injury, with only centre-half Aaron Hughes ruled out with a rib problem.

Roy Hodgson is more concerned about the prospect of rewarding Fulham's long-time fans with victory over United than about having an impact on the title race.

Liverpool and Chelsea will be desperate for the Cottagers to inflict a second straight defeat on Sir Alex Ferguson's side after the Reds crushed their rivals 4-1 last weekend.

And while Hodgson would take delight in delivering such a result - especially after slumping to 4-0 and 3-0 defeats against United since the turn of the year - it is not because he wishes to add to the drama of the trophy chase.

Instead, he is spurred on by the prospect of handing his own club's supporters a result which would stand alongside their greatest achievements in recent years.

"If you beat Manchester United at any time when you are at a club of our stature then it is a major achievement,'' he said.
