Prince - "Paris 1981" (Habibi) - 1981-06-04 (am), Le Palace, Paris, FR - Dirty Mind Tour - DVD
Paris, sorry for the delay. For taking so long to get here is Prince, and his got-to-get-a Dirty Mind, Fantastic Band On Tour. On a late-night One-Off, as only he can-can do up Paris like this in 1981. Patrons had to wait for Prince all night to make his debut in Paris. I had read about this DVD from TDB & been looking for ages the past few years for this & finally time has come today & I got so blown away. Prince did not get to the stage this night in the City of Lights till 2:30 in the morning. So this is no after-showing off fooling around out on the town, but a full Prince song-and-dance-man-plus-band, star-time extravaganza. Can you imagine a tiger like the young Prince having to be kept waiting? So you know he is more than raring to go to put on a closer to fine, extra-dirty mind and body-blowing show. And he does just that for this is the shit. All circulating copies of this show originate from the same source recording, so they all suffer the exact same picture drop-outs. The picture quality is noticeably improved on this particular release with much more colour depth and definition, and the picture interference which plagued the Global Funkschool release is minimal on here. It's worth mentioning the far superior sound quality too - it has been boosted, and sounds fresh and new. The footage is not without it's problems, and there are some picture glitches especially during the opening 'Do It All Night', however these fade away, and the rest of the footage is very high quality in comparison to others. Part of the show (presumably 'Head') between 'Sister' & 'Still Waiting' is missing, as is the intro to 'Uptown' - however as mentioned before ALL widely circulating versions of this footage have this omission. I personally prefer this show over the New York concert - not only is it more complete, and the song choices are different, but the performance itself is vastly better with Prince's dance moves, preening and strutting being a joy to watch from start to finish. This is vintage Prince at his total best, and amazing viewing. The menu's are superb (as one would expect from a GSH release) and follow the theme of the Dirty Mind vinyl inserts. Overall this is a superior release to the Global Funkschool one in every single way - better menu's, better quality picture and better quality sound. ______________________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________ Prince and His New Guitar Party Army Up 2015-06-20, Kickass, thewaymouth aka mikedreams on... Although he rose to the rank of Major General & was a two-time winner of the Medal of Honor, Butler is remembered today as a vocal critic of colonialism & American foreign policy. By the time of his retirement in 1931, in bitter reflection on a 33-year military career, he realized that far from "making the world safe for democracy" he had spent his entire adult life fighting dirty little wars all over Asia & Latin America whose true purpose was to enrich a handful of wealthy industrialists. -- Bleedster Camy 1943 -- US: Federal troops put down race riot in Detroit, 30 dead. 1948 -- Columbia Records begins the first mass production of the 33-1/3 RPM LP. -- First stored computer program run, on Manchester Mark I. 1966 -- Summer Haight Ashbury: Shops opening, dances every weekend, HIP merchants, Diggers.
