In this fourth edition of Process Equipment Design, authors Joshi and Mahajani have provided a detailed review of the different aspects of the designing and building equipment used in the chemical engineering industry.

The text covers the subject of process equipment design, in over eighteen chapters. The book begins by addressing basic concepts in process equipment design. Then it proceeds to cover Materials of Construction, High Pressure Vessels, Storage and Reaction Vessels, Design of Machine Elements, Heat Exchangers, Design Considerations, Distillation and Absorption, Evaporators and Crystallisers, Dryers, Support for Vessels, Mixers, Filters, Auxiliary Process Vessels, Process Hazards, and Process Flow Diagrams. In an attempt to provide more information on process equipment design, the authors have includes two Annessures, one which covers Symbols in PFD, and the other covers Piping Symbols in P & IU Diagrams. At the end of the text, students can find a set of plates, on eight of the topics discussed within the material.

About The Authors

V.V. Mahajani is an author and Professor, at the Institute of Chemical Technology, in the University of Mumbai.

Apart from this text, he has also co-authored Chemical Project Economics.

Process Equipment Design, is written in an instructional style, aimed at teaching students and professionals in the field of chemical engineering.

Mahajani’s subject of interest is Chemical Engineering. He has two years of Postdoctoral research expertise from the University of Cambridge, from the United Kingdom. He is a member of Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers and The Institution Of Engineers

S.B. Umarji is an author, chemical engineer, and the current Director at New Multifab Engineers Pvt. Ltd.

At present, Process Equipment Design, is his only written textbook.
