American author Abe Cady (Ben Gazzara) publishes a provocative Holocaust history attributing criminal medical conduct to Adam Kelno (Anthony Hopkins), a Polish expatriate physician residing in Britain. The outraged Kelno sues Cady for libel, and an epic trial ensues. This engrossing miniseries based on Leon Uris's best-selling novel was a critical and popular success when it first aired in 1974. Lee Remick and Leslie Caron co-star.



The first major TV-miniseries that started the genre. Although over 30 years old, QB VII still stands up remarkably well to later entries in the mini-series field. It's worth seeing for the performances alone, but the storyline is certainly absorbing as well.



The first DVD covers the early lives of these two men, their successes and failures. These lead to the courtroom clash in the second DVD.



Based on a true-story, QB VII is Leon Uris' masterful semi-autobiographical fictionalization of a libel suit which grew out of the publication of his book EXODUS. In EXODUS, Uris named a Nazi doctor whom, he asserted, performed experimental surgery on human guinea pigs in Auschwitz. The doctor sued Uris in a British court, much as QB VII's "Dr. Kelno" sues author "Abe Cady" about allegations of experimentation in "Jadwiga Concentration Camp."

QB VII was made into an American television six-and-a-half hour miniseries by Screen Gems Inc., and the last program from the company. It began airing on ABC on April 29, 1974 for 3 nights. Adapted to the screen by Edward Anhalt, it was produced by Douglas S. Cramer and directed by Tom Gries. The original music was written by Jerry Goldsmith and the cinematography by Paul Beeson and Robert L. Morrison.
