Description
The Royal Air Force at War - Combined Operations.
Two never before released WW2 films from the RAF Film Production Unit featuring rare archived footage of the British preparations for D-Day in 1944. 1. 'Combined Operations' (1944) provides a fascinating insight into the British preparations for D-Day and the thinking behind the strategy for the amphibious landings at Normandy. Much of this film was produced with a very 'positive spin' on how Combined Operations would work and how well trained and equipped the troops were for the landings. Later parts of the film show the successful landing and air operations after the breakout from the Normandy beaches. 2. 'Visual Deception' (1945) looks at the art of creating dummy aircraft, airfields, cities etc to fool the Luftwaffe during WW2. These B&W films are from the Imperial War Museum’s rare collection of original films and show the aircraft and personnel of the period. These films are of great historical importance and are essential viewing for anyone interested in aviation history. Related Torrents
