Rasputin: Dark Servant of Destiny (1998)

Rasputin: Dark Servant of Destiny is a biographical 1996 TV film by HBO about the life of the "mad monk" Gregory Novy (Rasptin) whose mystical religious and emotional hold on Tsarina Alexandra brought about the Russian Revolution and the fall of the Romanov Dynasty.



It won a Golden Globe for Best Mini-Series or Motion Picture made for TV. Alan Rickman, starring as Rasputin, won an Emmy. Greta Scacchi also won an Emmy (playing Tsarina Alexandra).



Ian McKellen (playing Tsar Nicholas II) won a Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actor, and was nominated for an Emmy in Best Supporting Actor.
