Description Karol Rathaus's Symphony No. 2 was created with anger when it first appeared in the 1920s. It was neither opulent, late German Romanticism, nor Serialism, but a dissonant yet tonal score filled with a powerful emotional charge. The composer unfortunately didn't get many chances to build upon this foundation, before the Nazis took over and he was forced to flee. He ended up teaching in the US, and never regained the attention and controversy he had for a few years. Transfers are now made at 256 kBits/s, directly from the disc. A bio is enclosed.
