DescriptionDaddy Freddy meets the Rootsman (2000) Frederick Nelson AKA "Daddy Freddy" is a Ragga Vocalist, was born and raised in Trenchtown Kingston, Jamaica in 1965. In 1973-74 from the tender age of 8 years old, he started to develop his talent for performing lyrics at house parties and dances on local reggae sound systems. He got his 1st big break around 1983-84 when he won the prestigious "Tastees Talent Contest". He recorded his first single ("Zoo Party") in 1985. In 1986, with the help of Sugar Minott, D. Freddy became a member of the Sound System: "Youthman Promotion". In the same year, he released his first album "Body Lasher". In 1987, D. Freddy moved to London and released the album "Ragamuffin Hip-Hop" with (Asher D). The international success came in 1991 with the album "Stress". By the end of the 90s Freddy was exhausted. His hectic life-style had taken it out of him so he found time to return to Jamaica and re-discover his roots. In 2000, he returned to London and with the Dub producer "The Rootsman" released "Old School New School". Sharing Widget |
