Daddy Freddy meets the Rootsman (2000)

Frederick Nelson AKA "Daddy Freddy" is a Ragga Vocalist, was born
and raised in Trenchtown Kingston, Jamaica in 1965. In 1973-74 from
the tender age of 8 years old, he started to develop his talent for
performing lyrics at house parties and dances on local reggae sound
systems.

He got his 1st big break around 1983-84 when he won the prestigious "Tastees Talent Contest".

He recorded his first single ("Zoo Party") in 1985.

In 1986, with the help of Sugar Minott, D. Freddy became a member
of the Sound System: "Youthman Promotion".

In the same year, he released his first album "Body Lasher". In 1987,
D. Freddy moved to London and released the album "Ragamuffin
Hip-Hop" with (Asher D). The international success came in 1991 with
the album "Stress".

By the end of the 90s Freddy was exhausted. His hectic life-style had
taken it out of him so he found time to return to Jamaica and re-discover
his roots.

In 2000, he returned to London and with the Dub producer "The
Rootsman" released "Old School New School".
