Reggae/Rock Steady, Bunny Lee - "Jumping With Mr Lee" from BJtheDJ (Size: 91.85 MB)
Description"Jumping With Mr Lee 1967-68" Another in Trojan Records' excellent Producer Series, Jumpin' With Mr. Lee spotlights Bunny Lee's rock steady production work from 1967-1968. Jumpin' With Mr Lee includes everything from soulful vocal numbers to instrumentals. Lee favored a leaner production style that featured steely horn and guitar work anchored by a buoyant rhythm section. Some of the vocal highlights include Slim Smith and the Uniques' "Love and & Devotion" and Ken Parker's cover of the Sam Cooke hit "A Change Iiisonna Come." On the instrumental side there is the liquid-toned work of alto saxophonist Lester Sterling on "Sir Lee's Whip" (it's hard to say if this is in reference to the boss's studio manner or not) and Vin Gordon's eerily satisfying trombone workout on "Sounds and Soul." The high-quality sound throughout helps make these 16 solid tracks one of the better rock steady collections available.
