from Mayan and Aztec civilisations and believed to harbour
psychic powers. For the first time, scientists are granted
access to the so-called skull of doom, which was brought
to light more than 50 years ago by English explorer Frederick
Mitchell-Hedges. The team use a powerful electron microscope
to scan the artefact in an attempt to establish its origins
