In Rig'n'Roll, which is set in 2014, the player takes the role of a young trucker who goes to the independent California to find his luck. He receives a forwarding agency and 25.000 dollar starting funds from his friend Matthew. The majority of the game is similar to other truck simulations: In his agency the player can accept missions to earn money. The player has to forward goods of different sensitivities to another place in California - of course this is also subject to a time limit. Because of the game's aspiration to be a simulation the player can control all important parts of his truck himself, e.g. the side mirrors or the the cruise control, and has to stick to the traffic law. If he violates them the police starts to chase him and if he can't outrun them - which is unlikely with a truck - he has to pay a fee. The game is designed to be an open world experience. The player has the freedom to freely explore the state to do additional tasks, e.g. repairing his truck in a workshop, filling up gas, picking up pick up hitchhikers or visiting bars to get additional missions. This includes races against other truckers Another unusual feature is the background story which is about Matthew who gets involved with people on the wrong side of the law - examples for story missions are the chasing of gangsters or the involvement in an illegal racing club. The 13 trucks are licensed.
