This is an unabridged version, 242MB, running for 17 hours. Encoded as 32kbps 22050Hz MP3 mono - radio quality. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The short stories contained here are: Letters from Atlantis (read by Tom Parker) On a mission to observe the fabled city of Atlantis through the mind of its royal heir, Ram, twenty-first-century time traveler Roy Colton soon becomes worried by Ram's dark dreams of the island's future destruction Hunters in the Forest (Brian Corrigan) A story about a hunter who goes back in time to hunt dinosaurs. There, he meets a woman (a fellow time traveller) who delights him. But is he willing to sacrifice it all to stay with her? Hero of the Empire (George Guidell) A Roman nobleman is sent in punishment to a remote corner of the Empire - the Arabian city we know as Mecca. With Caesar in the Underworld (Stefan Rudnicki) In this Roma Eterna story, an ambassador from the Eastern Empire comes to Roma for some crucial negotiations, but he seems more interested in exploring the Eternal City's extensive extra-legal district, called the Underworld. Secret Sharer (Robertson Dean) A young untested officer is in command of a large starship carrying passengers in the form of digitized matrices. When a matrix breaks free of the storage circuit, crewmembers warn the young commander that the invisible matrix will try to inhabit a body. We Are For the Dark (Robertson Dean) The story of the Lord Magistrate who is sent to the outer provinces of the galaxy to ensure that all is in the control of the Master. As he travels light years from his home on earth, he begins to lose his connection to his most deeply held beliefs about himself and God. Good News from The Vatican (Robertson Dean) The story concerns the election of a robot Pope, but Silverberg gives no background or explanation for the phenomenon of robot faith, so for me there are more questions than answers. Still, it's a fun little story. Majipoor (Jason Culp) An enthralling tale of Majipoor's early history, and remote future, as seen through the eyes of a dilettantish poet who discovers an unexpected destiny in "The Book of Changes". A Sleep and a Forgetting (Performance with Rosemary Alexander, Rene Auberjonois and others) Via a new invention, a 21st century linguist gives a pep talk to Genghis Kahn. Adapted for audio by Michael Cassutt and Ytzhak Berle, with a cast featuring Rosemary Alexander, Rene Auberjonois, Robertson Dean, Kaitlin Hopkins, and Allan Miller. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ****************** My other torrents are here http://www.mininova.org/user/instantcd /> ****************** Sharing Widget |
