Ross Edwards - Maninyas-Concerto for Violin, Symphony No 1

Ross Edwards is a composer concerned with his environment both on a micro and macro level. The three works - Maninyas - Concerto for Violin and Orchestra (lush, highly accessible and virtuosic), Symphony Da Pacem Domine (a plea for peace), and Yarrgeh - Nocturne for Solo Percussion and Orchestra (a sense of timelessness) - all reflect this.



Edwards' Symphony Da Pacem Domine was used in the evocative soundtrack to the film Eternity and was embraced by a new audience as a result. The work has been likened to Gorecki's Symphony No. 3 and the music of Arvo Part.
