Roxy Music - 1980 - Flesh + Blood (1991 Reissue) [mp3@320] Roxy Music Roxy Music on TopPop (Dutch television show) in 1973 Wikipedia: Roxy Music were an English rock group formed in 1971 by Bryan Ferry, who became the group's lead vocalist and chief songwriter, and bassist Graham Simpson. Alongside Ferry, the other longtime members were Phil Manzanera (guitar), Andy Mackay (saxophone and oboe) and Paul Thompson (drums and percussion). Other former members include Brian Eno (synthesizer and "treatments"), Eddie Jobson (synthesiser and violin), and John Gustafson (bass). Although the band took a break from group activities in 1976 and again in 1983, they reunited for a concert tour in 2001, and toured together intermittently between that time and their break-up in 2011. Ferry frequently enlisted members of Roxy Music as session musicians for his solo releases. Released in late May 1980, it was an immediate commercial success peaking at No. 1 in the UK for one week in June and then returned to the summit in August for another three weeks, in total spending 60 weeks on the albums chart in the United Kingdom. The album also peaked at No. 35 in the United States and No. 10 in Australia. The album was preceded by the single "Over You", a No. 5 UK hit that also provided the band with a rare US chart entry at No. 80. Two more hit singles followed: "Oh Yeah" (UK #5) and "Same Old Scene" (UK No. 12, AUS #35). Flesh + Blood also included two cover versions: The Byrds' "Eight Miles High" and Wilson Pickett's "In the Midnight Hour". The latter was released as a single in some territories. In addition, the album's title track along with the aforementioned "Over You" and "Eight Miles High" peaked at number forty-six on the Billboard dance charts. The album was made after their drummer Paul Thompson had left the band, essentially making Roxy Music a three-piece band consisting of Bryan Ferry, Andy Mackay and Phil Manzanera. AllMusic Review by Stephen Thomas Erlewine: An even slicker record than Manifesto, Flesh + Blood precariously balances between alluringly seductive, sophisticated soul-pop and cloying, radio-ready disco-pop. At its best, the album is effortlessly suave and charming -- "Over You" is one of their greatest singles, and "Oh Yeah" is nearly as persuasive -- but much of the record is devoted to ill-formed, stylish lounge-pop. In particular, the reliance on reworked covers of "In the Midnight Hour" and "Eight Miles High" is distressing, not only because it signals a lack of imagination, but also because it suggests that Flesh + Blood is simply a lesser solo effort from Bryan Ferry. And even the handful of undeniably strong moments can't erase the feeling that Roxy Music were beginning to run out of ideas. 01 The Midnight Hour - 3:09 02 Oh Yeah - 4:51 03 Same Old Scene - 3:57 04 Flesh And Blood - 3:08 05 My Only Love - 5:16 06 Over You - 3:27 07 Eight Miles High - 4:55 08 Rain Rain Rain - 3:20 09 No Strange Delight - 4:44 10 Running Wild - 5:03 Personnel: Roxy Music: Bryan Ferry – vocals, keyboards, piano, synthesiser (on track 4), guitar (on track 4), and strings (on track 5) Andy Mackay – saxophones, oboe Phil Manzanera – guitar, bass (on track 6) Additional Personnel: Paul Carrack – strings (on track 2), organ, piano (on track 10) Neil Hubbard – guitar (on tracks 1, 2, 5, and 7–10) Neil Jason – bass (on tracks 2, 7, and 9) Andy Newmark – drums (on tracks 4 and 5) Simon Phillips – percussion (on track 5) Allan Schwartzberg – drums (on tracks 1-3 and 6–10), percussion (on tracks 4 and 5) Alan Spenner – bass (on tracks 3–5, 8, and 10) Gary Tibbs – bass (on track 1) Note: This is not my rip My thanks to the original uploader ♪♬♫ ENJOY! ♪♬♫ Related Torrents
