Sadhu Mirandal is 1966 Tamil crime thriller film was directed by Thirumalai — Mahalingam and Produced by A. Bhimsingh under his production company Sun Beam's.


The film story was inspired by Surya Narayana Murder Casein T. Nagar. The film story and dialogue were written by Usilai Tha. Somanathan and Screenplay were written by A. Bhimsingh. Music by T. K. Ramamoorthy assets to the movie.

The film starring T. R. Ramachandran(who played Bank Cashier), Nagesh(who Played Taxi Driver) and O. A. K. Thevar(who played criminal) played lead with Kalpana, Manorama, Kutty Padmini and Master Prabhakar(the two Kids are played Cashier Childrens played portraying supporting roles.


The film was remade in Hindi as Sadhu Aur Shaitaan(1968) and in Kannada as Driver Hanumanthu(1980).


The role play by Nagesh in Tamil Version was reprised by Mehmood in the Hindi Version.

SYNOPSIS:- Saadhu Mirandal (1966) Tamil


In late 1958, Madras woke up to the shocking news of a bank official named Surya Narayanan having been murdered in a moving car on the South Beach Road by two men, who claimed to be his friend. While the third, another friend drove the car, the two halling from Northern India made a living acting as extras (now called Junior Artist) in the South Indian film world based in Kodambakkam. It was conspiracy hatched by the three particularly the car - owner - driver, who knew the manager was carrying a large sum of money from the head office in George Town to his branch in T. Nagar Known as the Surya Narayanan Murder Case it was a sensation reported in details of during the sevions court trail in English and local language dailies of the day. One killer managed to escape and has not been caught till today. While another was caught some where in Northern India and was hanged to death later. The main conspirator also received a stiff sentence. Inspired by the murder case, he worked out a screenplay, giving it an interesting twists, which made it an top class crime thriller.

It is story of two bosom - friends Pasubathi(T. R. Ramachandran and Narasimman(O. A. K. Thevar). The Bank Cashier with a happy family of his two kids Preema(Kutty Padmini and Ramu(Master Prabhakar). The two children's are most close to they school teacher Kalpana(Kalpana) Innocent and honest Kabali(Nagesh) drives a taxi and helps everyone. He is devoted to another kind - hearted gentleman Mr. Pasubathi(T. R. Ramachandran), who is bank employee. Kabali is attracted to a food carrier maid Karpangam(Manorama) and she is also Kabali's Cousin. Karpagam father strictly told Kabali gives 5,000 rupees cash for our marriage. So, he was try to saving money for Mr. Pasubathi's Bank. One day a man claiming to be childhood friend of Pasubathi, named Narasimman(O. A. K. Thevar) enter their lives. Narasimman, who palns to rob the bank locker and manages to get duplicate key. Narasimman steal the bank cash and his get in taxi. Pasubathi and narasimman between fight he resists and in the scuffle. The villain dies!. The bank manager(S. V. Sahasranamam) notifies the Police of the robbery and Pasubathi becomes crime suspects. In Panic Pasubathi, who comes into possessions of the money that Narasimman has stolen, flees with the police on his tail. Narasimman is killed and his dead body ends up in the back seat of Kabali taxi. Where he is forced to becomes a perfomer. However, truth triumphs in the end and the bank cashier. Cleared the charge, unites with his family.
