"Safe and Sound" is a song by American music duo Capital Cities. The song was released as a digital download in the United States in February 2011 and was released in Germany on April 5, 2013, around the time it started getting widespread attention and radio airplay in the US. It was used in a promotional video for the Diabetes Hands Foundation's Big Blue Test program in 2011. It was used in a German Vodafone commercial and has peaked at number 1 on the German Singles Chart. The song is included on the duo's debut studio album, In a Tidal Wave of Mystery (2013). It was released as a new music bonus track on the compilation album Now That's What I Call Music! 45 in the United States. It has sold over two million copies in the US as of January 2014.

In September 2013, it received airplay on UK radio including joining BBC Radio 2's playlist on the 'A' List. It was finally released in the UK in late-September and charted at number 42 on the UK Singles Chart on Sunday September 29, 2013.

An older video of the song was released to YouTube on February 24, 2011, and features alternating historical film clips of dancing and war from the last century generally arranged in chronological order.

The official second video of the song, directed by Grady Hall, was released onto YouTube on April 25, 2013. This video is set in the Los Angeles Theatre with Capital Cities performing on stage as dancers in pictures and film clips from the theater's century long history come to life and compete in dance-offs. Some of the featured performers in the music video include Santiago Splits, Santa Monica Sam and the High Rollers, West coast B Boys, East coast Swing, Bliss, Las Calientes.

The music video has received a Grammy nomination for the 56th Annual Grammy Awards in the Best Music Video category
