Sanne Salomonsen's 1994 album recorded in Ocean Way Studios, Los Angeles, and co-produced by Sanne herself and British producer/engineer Nick Davis (Genesis, Phil Collins, Mike & The Mechanics, Tony Banks, A-ha, Björk etc.). Featuring the hit singles "Haven't I Been To Good To You" (written by Jim Vallance, the man behind many of Bryan Adams' hits, and Rick Springfield), "Love Don't Bother Me" (originally by Norwegian band The Stage Dolls) and "What Does It Matter" (written by Sheryl Crow, from Crow's unreleased first album). "Language Of The Heart" also includes - in my humble opinion - some of Sanne's finest moments like "When A Woman A Pretends", the acoustic title track "Language Of The Heart", "Come To The Water" and "Grip Of Love", the latter written by Maggie Ryder (Mike Oldfield, Tears For Fears, John Farnham, Eurythmics, George Michael, Queen, Brian May etc. etc. etc.) and featuring guest vocals by Ryder herself. And; there was a specific reason for Sanne and Nick Davis travelling all the way to Los Angeles for the recording of this album. Backing Sanne on "Language Of The Heart", and not just a couple of the tracks but the entire album, are the following musicians: Bill Payne - keyboards, Paul Barrere - guitar, slide guitar, Fred Tackett - guitar, mandolin, Kenny Gradney - bass, Sam Clayton - percussion, and Richie Hayward - drums. No? Let me put it this way then: none other than legendary American blues/R&B/country/New Orleans funk/rock and roll band Little Feat, that's who. Some backing band eh?
