"Another Saturday and Sweet F.A." is a one off play written by Jack Rosenthal and directed by Michael Apted

for Granada TV's 'Saturday Night Theatre' strand.


Mr Armistead is the referee for an amateur league Sunday Football match. Disliked and abused he arrives to referee a

match between two rival teams. He immediately tries to impose himself on a game that could easily become a fight but

gets the usual shouts and put downs from the crowd. As the match continues we eavesdrop on those around the game and

wonder whether it is worth it.
