Savoy Brown 1999 - The Blues Keep Me Holding On [EAC FLAC] Savoy Brown Savoy Brown, December 1973. Left to right: guitarist Miller Anderson, guitarist Stan Webb, drummer Eric Dillon, guitarist Kim Simmonds and bassist Jimmy Leverton. Wikipedia: Savoy Brown, originally known as the Savoy Brown Blues Band, are an English blues rock band formed in Battersea, south west London in 1965. Part of the late 1960s blues rock movement, Savoy Brown primarily achieved success in the United States, where they promoted their albums with non-stop touring. The band was formed by guitarist Kim Simmonds and harmonica player John O'Leary, following a chance meeting at Transat Imports record shop in Lisle Street, Soho, in 1965. The initial constant line-up adjustments were attributed to the "creative accountancy" employed by the band's manager, Harry Simmonds, brother of Kim. The Blues Keep Me Holding On Artist: Savoy Brown Title: The Blues Keep Me Holding On Producer: Kim Simmonds, Arnie Goodman Release Date: May 25, 1999 Label: Mystic Music & Entertainment, Lightyear Catalog: 54323-2 ASIN: B00FZ0ZFBO Genre: Blues, Blues Rock Length: 48:28 AllMusic Review by Stephen Thomas Erlewine: Give Savoy Brown credit for carrying on when most of their peers have packed it in. There aren't many blues-rock bands from the late '60s still performing and recording, so it is noteworthy that they're still active. And from the sounds of The Blues Keep Me Holding On, they probably give a pretty good concert, too. Unfortunately, they don't make very interesting albums. The Blues Keep Me Holding On is a predictable mix of standards ("Going Down to Mobile," "Little Red Rooster"), contemporary covers, and new songs, all given straight-ahead arrangements and clean production. There are moments were the band starts cooking, but by and large, it all comes across as a bit flat. Longtime fans may want to consider adding it to their collection, since it isn't a bad listen, but less dedicated listeners probably will want to stick with the original albums or check out Savoy Brown in concert. 01.
