Description



Celi's constantly demeaning insults of his fellow musicians countered the great enthusiasm of orchestras and audiences, leading to him holding jobs for relatively short times during much of his career. His stay at Stuttgart was to prove one of his longer ones, and very fruitful. This was recorded strictly for in-house use, as the conductor hated recording for being interpretations fixed in time, instead of responsive to the event of the moment. Fortunately for us, others differed.
