Paranormal Hotspots.



As hubs for such uncommon occurrences as U.F.O. sightings, cattle mutilations and unexplained paranormal activity, Dulce, N.M., and Sedona, Ariz., are quite unique.SCI FI Investigates gets to the root of the disturbances that have put these cities on the paranormal map.



The team seeks out evidence of paranormal activity in two small Southwestern towns.



Rich and Rob randomly approach people in Sedona, Ariz. Nearly 80 percent say they have seen something strange or unexplainable in the sky. UFO researcher and photographer Tom Dongo shows them pictures he has taken of unusual lights in the sky; in one photo, a human-like figure that was not visible when the shot was taken showed up on the developed print, leading Dongo to believe that aliens walk unseen among humans.



Pete Sanders, an expert in energy vortexes, coaches Rich, Rob and Bill in meditation atop Airport Mesa Vortex, but the attempt to tap into a flow of energy is unsuccessful. The results are better at Cathedral Rock Vortex, where, under the direction of a Native American shaman, Bill and Rich both claim an emotional experience but disagree about whether to credit the vortex.



Geophysicist Dr. Dave Hindman brings a seismic-recording system and a magnetometer to the area to determine if the electrical currents and frequency underground could create an electromagnetic phenomenon that people could feel. The magnetometer, which detects distortions in the magnetic field, displays an anomalous reading for the magnetic field near the earth's surface at Airport Mesa. He says there is a flow of electricity there in the earth that is of the same frequency as that in the human body.



In Dulce, N.M., an employee of the Best Western hotel tells the investigators that many local residents have seen unexplained lights in the sky and believe that a military base - or possibly a home to aliens - is buried under Archuleta Mesa.



The team investigates Dulce's other bizarre phenomenon: cattle mutilations. The owners of the Gomez Ranch say that 50 of their animals have been killed. They describe finding cattle with their udders removed and rectums cored out.



Gabe Valdez, a former New Mexico State Police officer who investigated the crimes, says he found no tracks around the carcasses, but he did discover a high-octane oily residue that he believes came from an aircraft. He does not believe the mutilations are the work of extraterrestrials; the Gomez family agrees. The family shares photos they took of different carcasses with precise incisions that are clearly not the work of a predator. They also show the team a gas mask found near one carcass and electronic surveillance devices that had been planted in their homes; they claim to have received death threats warning them to stop trying to solve the mystery of these gruesome acts.



Gomez believes there is a military base in Mount Archuleta. Rich and Bill fly over Archuleta Mesa and Mount Archuleta in a Cessna 172 with a thermal imaging camera to detect heat coming up from ground. Rich says there were "quite a lot of hot thermal signals" but calls the results inconclusive.



For Rich, the most compelling evidence is the photos of the mutilated cattle combined with the absence of tracks around the carcasses and no sign of predators, leading to the conclusion that they must have been dropped from the air. But if this was a government operation, why not just buy the cattle and keep the carcasses? Another unsolved mystery.
