TRAMA:

Nella primavera del 1965 una serie di eventi drammatici cambiò per sempre la rotta dell’America e il concetto moderno di diritti civili, quando un gruppo di coraggiosi manifestanti, guidati dal Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., per tre volte tentò di portare a termine una marcia pacifica in Alabama, da Selma a Montgomery, con l’obiettivo di ottenere l’imprescindibile diritto umano al voto. Gli scontri scioccanti, la trionfante marcia finale e il passaggio del Voting Rights Acts del 1965 che seguirono sono ora un’incancellabile parte della storia. Ma la storia assolutamente rilevante e umana di Selma - dalle battaglie politiche negli uffici del potere, alla determinazione e alla fede della gente nelle strade, alla battaglia interiore che il Dr. King ha dovuto affrontare nel privato - non è mai stata raccontata sullo schermo.

STORYLINE:

The unforgettable true story chronicles the tumultuous three-month period in 1965, when Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. led a dangerous campaign to secure equal voting rights in the face of violent opposition. The epic march from Selma to Montgomery culminated in President Johnson signing the Voting Rights Act of 1965, one of the most significant victories for the civil rights movement. Director Ava DuVernay's "Selma" tells the story of how the revered leader and visionary Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr and his brothers and sisters in the movement prompted change that forever altered history.
