ServiceTuner 2007 (easily enable or disable up to 69 services) (Size: 9.73 MB)
Description
This program is for use on Windows XP (Home or Pro).
This program allows you to easily enable or disable up to 69 services, saving your system memory and in some cases, securing your system. To install ServiceTuner 2007, just double click the file "Install ServiceTuner 2007". This installation is 100% silent, no boxes will pop up asking you where to install to. ServiceTuner 2007 installs to your WINDOWS drive in a folder called "ServiceTuner". It will also put a link in your Start Menu called "ServiceTuner 2007" and two icons on your Desktop called "Enable Services" and "Disable Services". Just double click an icon to run the interface which presents you with a screen full of tickboxes, detailing 69 Windows Services that can be disabled or enabled. [NOTES] You will always have to restart your system for the changes to take effect, both disabling or enabling. When you "enable" services, it will only return the service back to the way it would normally be, so do not worry about enabling all services at once, this will not actually make all the services start, but sets most to manual so if they need to start in future, they will do. If you disable all services, you will only be left with six services running! This saves a lot of system memory (RAM). THIS PROGRAM WILL NOT DISABLE: DCOM Server Process Launcher (Needed for MSI installers) DHCP Client (Needed to access the internet) Event Log (This cannot be stopped) Plug and play (Needed for USB devices) Remote Procedure Call (This cannot be stopped) Windows Audio (Needed for sound) Also, this program will not alter Cryptographic Services. If you disable this, you will be flooded with uncertified driver notifications, but in most cases it can still be disabled, just make sure you've installed your drivers before disabling Cryptographic Services. It has not been tested on Windows 2000. If you use this on Windows 2003, there is no "Remote Desktop" in Windows 2003, so the ServicesTuner program will get stuck. There are 2 things you can do - either don't choose the service Remote Desktop Help Session Manager" OR when it gets stuck, end the process in Task Manager (just look for the process with a long name in Task Manager). This does not happen with Windows XP, which ServiceTuner is fully compatible with. Sharing Widget |
