opis:

A weary gunfighter attempts to settle down with a homestead family, but a smoldering
settler/rancher conflict forces him to act.

Wyoming, XIX w. Farmerzy są terroryzowani przez bandę Rufusa Rykera (Emile Meyer).
Reprezentuje on interesy hodowców bydła, którzy jako pierwsi kolonizowali te ziemie,
a teraz są z nich wypierani przez ogradzających swoje pola rolników. Jednym z farmerów
nękanych przez Rykera jest Joe Starrett (Van Heflin), który mieszka z żoną i synkiem.
Pewnego dnia w ich domu pojawia się tajemniczy Shane (Alan Ladd). Dzięki nieznajomemu
