Description

This is my very first torrent. And I'm very happy to be sharing this due to the fact I've been collecting Dmitri Shostakovich for all of my serious listening life. The majority of these recordings are old rips when ripping at 196Kbps or more would leave you with only an infinitesimal remainder on your HD back in the day. As such, I apologize in advance for the lower than mainstream quality.

I'd wanted a torrent w/o Symphonies, Concerti (w/ the obvious exception), String Quartets and the like for Shostakovich as these torrents exist in multitudes - NOT a terrible fate! - by a variety of conductors and performers already. As a composer w/ a 147 opus output (many still very obscure to locate, such as Marches, Red Army Choral/Band pieces, reductions of scores, film music spanning his life, and arrangements of others works), there is so much to delve in for a bitter catharsis after a long, grating journey or burlesque and sarcasm brimming over.

A complimentary companion torrent to the traditional Romantic magnum opuses is what this is, and I only wish that I could have got my hands on Royak, Shostakovich plays 24 Preludes & Fugues (which I once saw online, on vinyl, listed in Ireland for US$50 10 years ago!), Bells of Norilsk choral work, and a maddening amount of film music I only scratch the surface of here. I didn't include Hamlet and The Gadfly for precisely I've seen them several times else where.

I think to be a conscientious uploader, beyond actually doing it, you got to recognize what you love and are passion about it that is generally out there, and focus on how to expand on it. I wish more would find works not listed in large Box Set torrents or collections to compliment what has fed the swarm of audiophiles.

I was happy to include lots of the composer playing his own works. Quite a bit I've seen out there that is here, but here I've managed to cluster most of it in one torrent.
