Description

About the torrent:

Sierra's Jones in the Fast Lane. This is an old PC game. Unless you have an old machine to run this one (I mean like mid-late 90's old at the LATEST...like say 133mhz 8-16mb ram....and thats really much too fast, LOL) you're going to need to download an emulator like DOSbox to play this. This is the CDROM version of the game, meaning that it includes CD audio speech for all the NPC's in the game, at all of the various shops etc, unlike the floppy disk version which only had text bubbles.

All files are simply in a folder. I figured no one would bother burning it to a CD given the small size, so no need for an .iso, lol. No hidden files or anything weird...straight up, old school, what you see is what you get, lol.

*TIP* you have to run the setup to configure your sound card and what not, old school DOS game style. Go with the defaults (probably Sound Blaster or Adlib or whatever that other one was). If after starting the game you have no speech from the characters, go back into the setup and try another driver for the CD audio/speech (SFX and speech were separate in the setup if memory serves). The speech WILL work, you just may have to take a minute or two to get the right driver in there.

About the game:

Jones is like a board game/light strategy game, on the pc. You can play with up to 4 players or against the computer. It's a bit like "the game of life", but without the random rolls of the dice; each player has goals they must work towards....things like wealth, happiness, education, career level, etc. Each turn represents one week in the players life. Try to balance work and school, all while trying to get raises, better jobs, and more possessions to make you happier or books and computers to make you learn faster. And don't forget to eat! Not eating will ruin your next week, trust me! Save up for that fridge and start buying food asap! I used to buy 4 weeks worth of food on rent day, just to make it easy to keep track of. And watch the Z-Mart for good deals on appliances, and to stock up on dress clothes at a discount when they have them.

Enough of me re-living my childhood strategies, lol...

Essentially the first person to meet their goals is the winner. Even with the very limited old school graphics, this is still a very fun and entertaining title (enough so that I took the time to upload, and write this "essay" hahahah). Quite advanced for its time (copyright on the case indicates 1991). Well worth the time to download.

Have fun! Please rate and seed!
